Therapy, psychoeducational assessments, and evaluations for surgery or preemployment.

I have worked at PCA on a part time basis for over 15 years and consider myself fortunate to have been able to purchase the practice in May 2017. For the last nine years before becoming the owner, I was a staff psychologist at an outpatient office in the University of Maryland Medical System. This experience allowed me to work with a wide range of mental health needs in addition to caring for their physical or medical needs. I found it very important to consider the psychological and medical needs in creating treatment plans to help patients improve.

At PCA I continue to consider not just the apparent psychological needs of patients, but all aspects of treatment to create a plan to meet your individual goals. I see children, adolescents and adults in individual therapy to improve areas of need. Typical presenting problems include depression, anxiety, life stress, trauma, and grief. I also coordinate all of the testing cases at the practice, which often involve showing a need for accommodations in school or work. I work with local private and public schools to complete psychoeducational assessments that help the child/student, family, and school so that the students can be taught more effectively. You will also learn better ways to reach your child/student based on what we learn about how they learn information best.

In addition to these parts of my job, I also really enjoy doing evaluations for readiness for a surgery or for preemployment evaluations. If you have been asked to get a psychological evaluation before having a medical procedure or before being hired for a job, we likely can help you with this. Typical evaluations of this type are for bariatric weight loss surgery or for organ transplant. One thing that sets me apart from many other providers in the field is that I do accept insurance for all services, including psychological testing and evaluations.

I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Clemson University (Go Tigers!), a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Baltimore and a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree at Loyola University in Maryland. I have worked in the Baltimore area throughout my career. I know the area and the schools very well and am confident that if I cannot help you with your needs personally, I will know who to refer you to if that is needed. I look forward to working with you.
