Psychological Evaluation

Pre-surgical and employment screening

We provide evaluations that are often required by insurance companies before having certain medical procedures.

We also provide preemployment psychological evaluations for many police departments in the state of Maryland in accordance with national standards for these types of evaluations. PCA has also been sought out by other organizations that need insight into candidates who are being considered for sensitive positions that cannot be gathered with just a job interview or background check.

Evaluations

Our practice is able to provide evaluations that are often required before having significant medical procedures or before being hired for certain jobs. Having a psychological evaluation before a weight loss surgery, organ transplant or other procedure is necessary to ensure that someone is fully ready to make changes to their lifestyle to ensure that surgery will be successful. An evaluation can also provide a physician with insight as to your psychological state, readiness for surgery, and offer recommendations that might make your procedure easier for you.

We also perform evaluations to help doctors decide if a patient should be prescribed certain medications that have the potential for abuse so that the prescriber can make the best decision for the patient and themselves. We understand these medical needs from the patient and the physician’s view and can help be a part of your the decision-making process about procedures or medications that should or should not be prescribed.

We also complete hundreds of preemployment psychological evaluations yearly to determine if someone is able to handle important job responsibilities. Many law enforcement agencies in the state of Maryland refer prospective police officers to us for this reason. We are able to meet these needs with thorough evaluations that provide insight into someone’s functioning that cannot be gained from other standard preemployment checks.
